News From The President’s Desk ~ October 24, 2012
I want to take a moment to say “thanks” to all of our financial supporters, volunteers, and those that pray for us and wish us well here at Jefferson Davis Outreach Ministry (JDOM ). We could not have made the journey this far without you.
Our 2012-2013 school year began on August 13, 2012. This is the six year that Mrs. Abrams has served as a volunteer. She directs Project: Log In For Transformation (LIFT) After-school. We got off to a good beginning. On our first day we had 15 k-6 graders to get off of the bus, our enrollment as of today is 21 high spirited children. Our job is cut out for us, but God prepares us each day for the challenge. We are blessed to have a retired teacher Miss. Rose Powell and a high school student, Miss. Williams, to volunteers with us. We are greatful to REAL Christian Foundation who made it possible for us to employ our first employee. Mrs Joyce Buckley, works two evens, two hrs a day, she helps with paper work and snacks.
One of our faithful student volunteers, Ms Emily Langly, was the recipient of the Reggie Weary Scholarship from REAL Foundation. Our student got their first school Report Card. There were some improvement, but much work to be done. Again this year, visitation to the Jefferson Davis County Alternative School (JDCS) is an ongoing ministry once a week on Tuesday.
We participated in the JDC School Homecoming Parade on October 11, 2012. We are now in the process of preparing for these upcoming presentations; November 15, 2012, JDC Hospital ECF . November 22, 2012 JDOM Thanksgiving Dinner, served 11:30-12:30. December 8, 2012, 6:30 JDOM Annual Christmas Fellowship, December 13, 2012 Christmas Presentation by JDOM and Zion Church of God Student for ECF. December 21, 2012-January 7, 2013 closed for the Christmas Holiday.
Again, thanks to our Angle Partner. If you are not a supporter, consider becoming an Angle Partner? Angle Partner are those that commit to $10 a month. Your donation will help us to continue to serve our children and others in need. Serving other is what we do for we at JDOM still believe, “It Takes A Village To Raise A Child.” May God shine His Blessing on you as the Holidays approach.
JDOM Starting Right in 2012
From: The President’s Desk
Happy New Year to all !. We are Blessed to see another year. Jefferson Davis Outreach Ministries is off to a good start in 2012, we are expecting Great things to happen this year. Please pray for us that the Lord will send volunteers and finances to continue this work.
We ended 2011 on a high note. Our volunteers, Mrs. Ora Abrams, Mrs. Beulah Walker, the children and I,have a wonderful Christmas presentation of songs and recitations at the JDC Care facility, Prentiss, MS. What a blessing it was to celebrate our Annual Christmas Fellowship with parents and friend in attendance. The students made us proud. We were inspected by our licensurer to continue as a Childcare facility. It was a exciting to know that Jefferson Davis Outreach Ministries had done a great job in meeting the state’s requirements.
Due to our purchase of the new facility we were closed for renovation, and staying compliance for license as a State Childcare facility, we could only serve five (5) children. Thank God, we now have the capacity to serve 30 young people along with the other ministries at JDOM, which include our Radio broadcast at 9:45 a.m. every Sunday morning. We are serving 15 students, k-6 grade. We have two (2) student that tutors in the afternoon to earn Community Service hours. We were a part of the Martin L. King, celebration in Prentiss, Mississippi. We ask that you continue pray for the success of Jefferson Davis Outreach Ministries.
Thanks, Bettie

JDOM Feb 2011 Update
Happy New Year to all of our friends and partners. I pray that all is well with you and your family. We a Jefferson Davis Outreach are still working toward completion of the building, it has been a lots of work, but the Lord has supplied the labor and the finances because of your generosity. Thank you for investing in our Children, the leaders of Tomorrow. The hard work is done, just a few minor adjustments. It is looking great !
I just received word today from my licensurer stating that, we have been exempted to operate fully with our after-school tutorial program, however, a playground has to be completed and equipt alone with other minor details before the summer program begin in June, at that time license would be issued.
JDOM is now taking application for tutorial, and the “Summer Enhancement Program”. Parent can apply at the ministry at 2126 Columbia Ave. Prentiss, MS. We are asking all that is concern and have a heart for children to come and lend a hand for one or two hours as a volunteer.
Our new gifting program is called, ” Angel Gift “. We believe if we can get 100 people to give $ 10 a month, we can run a successful and productive ministering youth program. Thank you for supporting us as we touch lives ” one at a time.” May God bless you, is our prayer.
